Candle Care Tips

Caring for your candle properly can help it burn longer and more evenly.
Here are some tips to keep your candle in top shape:

1. Trim the Wick:

  • Always trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before each use. This prevents the candle from producing too much soot, helps it burn more evenly, and prevents the flame from becoming too large.

2. Burn for the Right Amount of Time:

  • When you light your candle, let it burn long enough for the wax to melt across the entire surface (usually 2–4 hours depending on the candle size). This prevents tunneling, where the center burns down faster than the edges, leaving wax on the sides of the jar.

3. Keep it Away from Drafts:

  • Avoid burning your candle near open windows, fans, or air vents. Drafts can cause uneven burning and excessive flickering.

4. Allow the Wax to Cool:

  • Before lighting it again, let the wax cool and solidify completely. This helps to maintain the candle's shape and ensures a clean burn the next time.

5. Store Properly:

  • When not in use, store your candle in a cool, dry place. Keep it away from direct sunlight or heat sources, as this can cause the wax to discolor or soften.

6. Clean the Candle Holder:

  • If you notice excess wax buildup around the edges, clean the container gently once the wax has fully cooled. You can use warm water or a small bit of soap and a soft cloth.

7. Avoid Burning it for Too Long:

  • Don’t burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This can cause the wax to overheat, leading to a poor burn and potentially damaging the candle container.

8. Check for Wick Stability:

  • If the wick starts to lean or fall over, straighten it with a pair of tweezers. A leaning wick can lead to uneven burning and increased soot.

Taking good care of your candles will help ensure they last longer and provide a consistent, pleasant fragrance.
